I have my Pip assessment tomorrow as I am currently unable to work due to severe mental health issues.
I have already been placed into the ESA support group.
However the Pip assessment centre is over 20 miles away. I am without transport and have nobody that is able to take me to the appointment.
I'm obviously panicking now that this will go against me but there is now way I can make my own way there. I have already cancelled one appointment and explained myself but they simply rebooked it at the same office.
Does anyone have any similar experiences and have any advice as to what I could do regarding requesting a home visit?
I'm afraid you have left this too late to do anything about a home assessment!
Claimants are only given two opportunities to attend an assessment, your cancelled appointment will count as one of those.
If you do not attend the assessment tomorrow then the Assessment Provider will return your file to the DWP for failing to attend, they will write to you for your reasons but as you have not provided any evidence that you cannot attend I think it likely that the DWP will close your claim.
This is an appealable Decision, you can also make a new claim for PIP, there is no waiting period. An appeal could easily take nine months or more.
To avoid a future assessment at the AP's offices you will at the least require a letter from your GP explaining why you cannot attend at their office.
