PIP changes was created by jan1
Hi Everyone,
My husband is on the old DLA and only gets the mobility part of it as we have never claimed for the care part as he did not need it, but now he has got a lot worse and last year he even fell down stairs breaking his back so I was going to start to claim PIP for him but someone has said that its all changed and that once my hubby is on PIP I will have to go for an interview for a job, how do I juggle a job and look after my hubby at the same time? is this information correct please. also I am wondering if it is wiser to contact the DWP ourselves to ask to be changed over to PIP so it all gets done in one go. any advice will be greatfully appreciated, thank you.

The information that you have received about having to work is completely incorrect!
Before you make a decision about claiming PIP you really need to understand the criteria which is very different from that used for DLA, in particular the mobility criteria are a lot stricter and a lot of DLA claimants are finding the Mobility award is reduced or even removed on transfer.
Have a read of our PIP Claim guide for the criteria that he will need to meet.
