Hypothetical Question Re. ESA and JSA was created by ziggyzee
Hi... Im on income related esa support group (for a couple of years) and my husband has a small failing business he wants to shut down. If this happens, would he have to claim JSA or UC? It won't happen yet but what would the scenario be? It's a minefield out there.

Your husband should already be part of your ESA claim if it is Income Related.

If he has paid Class 2 NI Contributions then he can claim Contribution Based JSA for six months. He can't make a claim for UC without you closing your ESA claim as only one person can make a claim for an Income Related benefit in a household.
