Carers allowance was created by Miserable
Hello
I have been awarded pip again for another 3 years, I get income related esa support group which is a joint claim with my husband.
We were told to apply for carers allowance which my husband has done and been accepted for.

We are unsure if it is going to make us lose money rather than get extra?

Can anyone help us please? Will it affect our housing benefit/council tax?
I'm so worried we are going to lose money now.
Thank you for any help you can give me.

I assume you receive DLA or PIP?

Your husband's CA will be deducted from your ESA however you will now receive a Carers Premium on your ESA resulting in a net increase in your money.

Your Housing Benefit will take the Premium into account as well but I would not expect this to result in a change.

You need to inform the DWP that your husband is now receiving the CA for the Premium to be payable.
