So demoralised about converting from DLA to PIP was created by JJ69
What do I do?
Today on the phone I've been told I scored 8 points for standard care and 0 points for mobility in relation to converting from DLA to PIP.
When I originally applied for DLA I was turned down both first time and at tribunal. I met a man who is my husband now and he encouraged me to reapply having seen my day to day issues. I wasn't turned down again for DLA and we went to tribunal but this time I involved the disability advisor at citizens advice and 3hrs before the tribunal the clerk phoned me and said I didn't need to attend because it had been considered and I was being awarded middle care and full mobility.
This time I'm not so sure I can cope with all that stress again. My joints have got worse in the last 6mths and swell now. I struggle to change gear in my current car due to how painful it is and I know if I had a Norma handbrake now instead of electronic I wouldn't be able to release it with my left hand
I had a home assessment and she said she thought everything would be ok but if not she encouraged me to appeal. I just don't think I can really cope or face that stress and demoralisation all over again.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
The first thing you need to understand is that the PIP criteria is regarded as being stricter than the DLA that it replaces, it is the deliberate intent of the Government to reduce the budget for disability benefits.
I'm afraid only you can make the decision to pursue a higher award, make sure that you understand the criteria that you are being asked to meet. you need to be able to complete the activities "reliably" and "on the majority of days" (these terms are explained in the PIP Claim guide) not to score points.
The first stage to challenging a Decision is to request a Mandatory Reconsideration, this is carried out by the DWP. If that fails then you can go on to appeal as you have before.
