I am currently on DLA due to visual impairment and I think I will have a battle on my hands to get PIP, especially the Care component. I can see it going to appeal, and I know that people are waiting at least six months for an appeal at the moment. Does your DLA continue while waiting for an appeal? If the decision goes against you, do you have to pay it back from the date of the initial decision?
Also, I am supporting somebody at work with a PIP appeal (currently on Standard rate for both components, but has been refused any PIP at all at the latest review). Will she continue to be paid PIP until the appeal? Again, if she loses, will she have to pay it back?
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
If you are on the UK mainland then there will only be on-going payments during an appeal if an award is in place. So your DLA will stop four weeks after the Decision on your PIP claim whatever that Decision is and your friend will not be paid as an award has been refused.
Please have a look at our PIP Claim guide for details of the criteria that you and your friend need to meet.
