I am new to this forum. My husband has been disabled for over 20 years. 2 years ago we went through just under 3 years of fighting for Incapacity Benefit to ESA which resulted in Tribunal result of him receiving ESA support. We are now at the start of DLA to PIP and are dreading having another experience like the last one, especially as without our motability car my husband will be a prisoner at 49 in his own home as he cannot use public transport, he cannot even walk to the nearest bus stop and is unable to use a wheelchair. We have used your excellent guides and taken 2 weeks to complete the form and send it off along with letters from consultant, pain management, MRI scan, letter from GP and letters from two close friends and neighbours. Can someone please let us know how long, at the present time, we should wait to hear, from whom, and what the next stage will be. Thank you
The next stage is for the Assessment Provider to decide on whether a face to face assessment is required or not. I would expect 3-5 weeks to hear about whether one is required with an appointment 1-3 weeks later. Summer holidays may add a week or two to these times.
