After waiting 3 weeks since our form was received by DWP I rang today and was given the tel. no. of the Independent Assessment Services to telephone. They advised me that my husband would have a home face to face assessment and that I should hear regarding an appointment within the next couple of weeks. I have read through the brilliant guide you have produced with regard to recording these assessments and the equipment etc. you need and the fact that you have to request this when you are offered an appointment but can you please advise whether we can request that we can record the assessment in our own home or not? Thank you so much.
There should be no problem with your recording the assessment in your home.
You need permission in advance from the Assessment Provider to make the recording.
It needs to be made to two tapes of CDs simultaneously.
You cannot use a digital recorder such as a mobile phone.
A member has reported problems if the media is not new, so make sure that the tapes or CDs are still shrink wrapped and opened in the presence of the assessor.
You need to give one of the recordings to the assessor.
Most members have used two relatively cheap cassette recorders, check that they record without problem, some have used external microphones.
