Although the condition can define the problems that a claimant has with the ESA activities it is actually the limitations that result from that condition that are being assessed.
The difficulty is that the ESA assessment is split in two, looking at what physical problems the claimant has, the Irlen syndrome should fall under this heading and what are labelled mental health issues which I think most autism issues would fall under.
It may well be that the assessor did not have a proper understanding of Autism issues but I'm not sure their approach to the assessment was wrong based on what you have said.
A Decision should be made in 2-5 weeks.
