New member to Benefits and Work. Received first newsletter a few days ago and was astonished to read that there are plans to migrate ESA claimants over to UC.
Does Benefits and Work have any information on what will happen to ESA claimants when migrated to UC? Does this mean that migrated ESA claimants lose their ESA status once migrated to UC? Do they, at that point, become considered to be standard UC claimants and treated as such by the Jobcentre? Will different things happen to Support Group and those in the WRAG once they are migrated?
I could think of endless questions on this but really we need more details of what the plans are? Does Benefits and Work have any additional information on what is planned to happen to ESA claimants once they are migrated?
The legislation and plans for the migration are under discussion between the DWP and interested parties so all I can say at this time is to keep an eye on the News section and the newsletter.
