DLA to PIP was created by Tigerlily11
Hi everyone,

I have just been informed today I have to apply for PIP. I was getting high care and mobility with DLA. I have never had a medical with DLA. It was always Paper based reviews. Is it possible to get a Paper based review with PIP? Has anyone had this and how would I go about it. I feel sick at the thought of a medical.

Thank you,
Jessica

Paper Based Reviews can be done for PIP but it really isn't a matter of choice, the decision lies with the assessor and they need to be convinced that they have sufficient information to make a recommendation to the DWP. In reality, you are going to need the support of your GP or someone else actively providing you with support to provide the Assessment Provider with any information that they are missing.

Please use our PIP Claim guide to help you complete the form##

Hi Jessica
It is as Gordon says you need to get backing. My husband had a paper-based review - it was the decision of the assessor after a considerable fight. But one of the reasons I won is because I had a great deal of evidence which was very well collated with lots of medical backup and proof that he could neither attend or cope with a home-based assessment. Please do not get caught up with what you had on DLA - as many people have found it often has little effect on what they assume for PIP. It is like starting again. Good luck

Thank you Gordon.

I was wondering if I should include an ESA85A medical report form form September 2018. I would not want to rub them up the wrong way either. I have letters from my G.P and Consultant but thought I might send this as well. What do you think Gordon?

There should be no problem with you sending the ESA85A but you do need to explain why it is relevant to your PIP claim, although there are some areas of overlap between ESA and PIP, even where there are the criteria can be very different.

Hi Bis

Was the paper based review the first time getting PIP from DLA?
I see what you're saying Bis, I need to get my head around the PIP regulations and just start again.

Many thanks
Jessica
