could you tell me please what is the criteria for claiming carers allowance my wife and myself are both retired i am in receipt of enhanced mobility and enhanced daily living i depend on her day and night for assistance thank you in advance

The person being cared for must receive an enabling benefit such as DLA MRC or HRC, PIP Daily Living or Attendance ALlowance, they must provide a minimum of 35 hours of care a week, not earn more thanĀ£120 after deductions and must not be a full-time student.

If your wife is receiving the State Pension then CA is not normally payable as the two are considered to be overlapping benefits. However, If you receive Pension Credit then a Carers Premium would be added to your PC.
