Capital allowance while on ESA

Capital allowance while on ESA was created by ChrissieT
My ESA has been suspended since the date of sale of my house while I held capital in my bank . I notified the DWP that the money was being invested over a few months in a shared property requiring major reconstruction and that I was living in a caravan in the garden during this period. In November I supplied the Department with bank statements confirming the balance in my account below the £16000 threshold and a Deed of Trust showed my investment in the project, but I have had no response and have been awaiting an escalated call back since 4th February despite daily phone calls.
My understanding was that capital from the sale of property that was destined to purchase another property could be held for up to 26 weeks. Can anyone confirm this for me?
And can someone please advise me how to get a response from a Decision Maker. The anxiety is making me so ill.

Any equity from a house sale should be disregarded for at least 26 weeks providing a Decision Maker accepts that the money is to be used for the purchase of a new property for the claimant to live in,

Given the timescales, I would involve your MP

Contacting your MP

I am so grateful for your reply. I persevered with phoning the DWP and finally had an answer that my ESA would be reinstated for the 26 weeks from the date of sale. The following day I had four missed calls but still no letter or sign of any money. My chronic anxiety hit the ceiling and I nearly had a meltdown.
On your advice I have emailed my MP Damian Green who used to be Secretary of State for the DWP. It's shameful the way we are treated.
