Back Pay for PIP Query

Hi there

Can anyone help? I was wondering if anyone knew what the rules are regards Back Payment for a PIP award.

I received a PIP renewal form last April 2018 a year before it was due to run out. Because I required a home assessment, they kept cancelling my appointments. I eventually had my face to face at home in November 2018. I only recently received my renewal this month (over the 8 week waiting period since the assessment and 9 months since my renewal form was submitted).

They have maintained the status quo but have added care to my award.

I am now expecting this Care Award to be back paid from April 2018 since that is when my form and all my evidence was submitted. As yet, I have received no information from DWP with regards any back pay at all. It's like I'm not going to receive any.

If they have changed the rules and claimants are now only allowed receive renewed awards from the date of the decision, then I feel rather penalised since they spent months delaying my face to face assessment at home, and a further delay on the decision. it seems to be in their interest to delay everything so they can pay less.

Can anyone please clarify the rules on this for me before I take it to DWP? I'm so exhausted from fighting and the whole year involving being reassessed has caused further exacerbation to my condition.
