Pip review and mental health was created by Daff
I had a f2f assessment at home on Monday after sending in a review form The assessor was really nice but said that I probably won’t get mobility now for my mental health problems because I am not currently having any treatment or seeing a specialist. She said DWP are cracking down on people and only awarding the mobility component for mental health if you are havning treatment. I have agoraphobia and saw a psychiatrist in the past and had talking therapy. The nhs only allows 8 sessions. I was then referred back to my gp who prescribed trwquilisers when I need them. Is this correct. I’m now worried I will lose my lower rate mobility component, is this correct?

No, it's not! All of the PIP activities and Descriptors are defined in law and there is nothing in these that requires a claimant to be receiving current treatment for their conditions.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hello Daff

I would bring this to the attention of your MP, this is the only way things will change. Also have a look at MP Angela Crawley who has had a huge debate with various MPs and Sarah Newton about the benefit process and mental health, she is having a further meeting with new disability minister and is trying to get things changed.

Thanks for your replies. I’ll have to wait and see what points they give me but will take it further and contact my MP if necessary.
