ARE YOU ALWAYS TOLD OF ESA DECISION? was created by Norman
Hi, I am currently in the ESA Support Group. I had my face to face medical on 24 April 2019. It's been about ten weeks and I haven't heard anything re results. A lady from Money Matters who helped with the form phoned yesterday, 10/7/19. She asked if I'd heard if my claim had been successful? I told her it's been ten weeks and I haven't heard anything (I did receive a brown envelope four weeks after the assessment but that was a tax statement re benefit from 2018 and nothing to do with the assessment). She asked if I'd been contacted re any changes to my benefit and I said no. She asked if the amount I was getting was the same and I said yes. She then told me if there were no changes to my current benefit then that meant I'd been successful as it usually took about six weeks for a decision. I assumed I'd be contacted if successful and she said they don't always contact you if successful the benefit will just continue. I'm reluctant to take Money Matters word for this though as I need something in writing to have peace of mind. I did try phoning ESA twice on 08001690310 (I'm in Scotland if that makes a difference) but was just kept on hold for 25 mins and 45 mins respectively so gave up. Any help appreciated thank you. Norman

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

All ESA Decisions have to be notified to the claimant in writing we do occasionally hear from members when the letter has not been produced but these are very much the exception rather than the rule.
I'm afraid you need phone the DWP again, I know the call wait times are frustrating but you do need to wait for your call to be answered.

Thanks Gordon. I have a phone phobia related to anxiety so it takes days to pluck up the courage to phone but I've read I can get someone to phone for me as long as I'm with them when they phone. I really appreciate your help. Regards...

Yes, someone can call for you as long as you are present for the security questions and to authorise the DWP to speak to the person.
