Pension Credit was created by JJ
Hi Team
My Partner is in receipt of sickness related ESA (Income Related).
He will reach state pension age in 2022 when he is 66 yrs.
I need to find out if he will be able to claim Pension Credit at his state pension age.
. As the claim is for us as a couple, I think that since the new rulings both the man & the woman in the couple have to be of state pension age ? So mixed age can disqualify the older partner from claiming if he has a younger spouse ?
But, he claims Housing Benefit on our behalf, so I think this may make a difference ?

Thank you for any advice you can give.

If you are younger than him then this will bar him from making a claim for Pension Credit until you also reach State Retirement Age.

You will have have to make a claim for UC in order for you to continue to receive Housing Benefit.
