F2F Assessment soon was created by cuthbert
Hello,

I have a home F2F soon, any advice would be appreciated.

I mostly housebound with ME. I also have Fibromyalgia and currently a hip bursitis flare - for which I have an appointment with a specialist.

I have migraines and also angina. I also have arthritis. I suffer from anxiety that can be bad.

I find it difficult to concentrate. My memory isn’t good. I slur words and can’t word find when getting beyond my limits. I’m concerned that I’ll struggle to explain how my ME and Fibromyalgia fluctuate and vary - it’s confusing for me never mind anyone else.

I can look quite healthy and well which gives people the idea of me being ok - I’m not.

I can’t go out alone due to energy issues and fatigue and pain that develops in hips, plus spaced out and unsteady. I definitely can’t cross a busy road on my own - I don’t pay attention and I’m slow.

I get breathless and dizzy.

I can’t use my arms reliably because of significant pain in my shoulder and painful hands.

Not looking forward to it, but grateful it’s home.

Hi Cuthbert

Have you looked up the types of questions that you might be asked at the assessment? There is a list in the PIP handbook. This is not an exhaustive list and what the assessor asks can vary due to your individual circumstances and the information you have already sent in, but it's a good idea to take a look. Be warned, they nearly always throw in one question you're not expecting not necessarily designed to catch you out - just because you're not expecting it.

The second thing is to be yourself and follow your normal routine. Don't get dressed up if you wouldn't normally get dressed up but don't wander around in your night clothes if you normally get dressed.

Try to have someone with you if you can.

Hope it goes well for you.

Hi BIS

It’s an assessment for ESA, I forgot to say. I’ve not a lot of energy to look through lots of text - it’s one of my big issues really as I cannot concentrate or take it in.

Thanks, I’ll do my best. My husband will be present, he attends all appointments for doctors etc as I can’t remember things.

Thanks.
