PIP MR'S and fresh assessment report?

Hi there,

Would just like an answer to this query, please.

Last year I had my last PIP assessment which went miserably scoring zero points. However, I won my MR and finished up with my award reinstated.

My question is this: at the MR stage, is another assessment report carried out in order for the Decision Maker to make their verdict?

Or do they sort of use your new evidence and do a juggling act together with the original HCP's report and do the MR from that?

The reason I'm asking this: if another assessment report is carried out, I would love a copy to see what was changed and the recommendations that were made with the length of the award etc.

If so can I request one from the DWP?

Many thanks.

Hi Phrank

You asked: 'My question is this: at the MR stage, is another assessment report carried out in order for the Decision Maker to make their verdict? '

Answer: Not necessarily, it depends on your arguements and any additional evidence that you send in, in support of your claim. It is always better to try and get a MR decision rather than go to appeal due to the waiting period. At present claimants are waiting over 43 weeks just to get their cases listed for the next available date.

Yes you should be able to request a copy the assessment report by contacting the DWP office dealing with your claim.

Hi Bis,

Thanks for that. I phoned the PIP helpline up yesterday. I was told there was no additional documentation and so the original assessment report must have been modified for the MR.

I'm not reading anything into this, but the person I spoke to went into great depth when I mentioned the light touch review topic.

He tried to assure me that because of my age and my condition, it was very unlikely I would have to have another assessment which is due for next year.

I took this with a pinch of salt unless anyone else has had experience of this?
