Hi everyone my friend is still in the process of transfer from indefinite DLA award to PIP the medical assessment has been done and she has been told it will take the decision maker 13 or 14 weeks from date of assessment to make a decision if that's the case this procedure will have taken 9 months is this the norm? thanks in advance Trevor

Hi Trevor3123

In the past the process could take just three or four months - sometimes less, but the DWP have had a lot of delays - so it's certainly not unheard of for some people to wait this long.

If your friend wants to they can ring up and ask for a copy of the assessment report. This should arrive within ten days of their request. If they were not happy with the report there is an opportunity to write and challenge it before the decision is made.

thank you Bis she has a copy of her assessment report and points on it would award her less than her DLA award was so she intends asking for an M/R if decision maker sticks to points on the assessment report. Her fear would be handing over further evidence of her medical conditions and how they affect her. Leaving nothing for the M/R

Obviously their decision but there is no value in holding evidence back, if it is strong enough for the MR then it should also be for the Decision and if it is not...

It disgraceful the way people who need help and care are being treated by the DWP. They should slow down the reviews and only take on what they can deal with within a 3/4 month window.

I stared the process in August last year and am now awaiting a decision that's 6/7 months. Its caused me stress and a lot of worry. I have great support aeon me. heavens know's what others go through.

Totally agree, my wifes transition from lifetime DLA to PIP began early Sept 2019, F2F was 12 weeks and 3 days ago...the dreaded brown envelope arrived this morning and thankfully she was awarded standard care and enhanced mobility until Dec 2029..but such a stressful time awaiting the DWP`s decision.. so much for their supposedly "6 to 8 weeks before decision".. I wish you all the best in your journey....
