My partner who is 70 has been claiming pension credit for both of us ,I am 63 ,he claimed before the new rule came in , I have been suffering various health issues for about 5 years now but have never claimed I would like to claim for PIP but am concerned that the pension credit and mixed age couple status would make everything difficult, what would you advise.

There will be no impact, as long as you continue to meet the PC criteria it will be paid even though you are a mixed age couple.

PIP is not treated as income for the purposes of PC.

Our guides for PIP are on the following

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

Be aware, assessments for all benefits are currently suspended for at least three months so it could be some time before your claim is decided, as it is a new claim you will receive back payment of any award from the day that you start the claim by contacting the DWP.
