Uc disabled student was created by Jackie
Hi claimed uc for disabled student claim has been processed will they b entitled to any money. Been told that payment will b due on 27th.but read elsewhere that it's very difficult for disabled students to receive this benefit. R will they just grant it because of the current situation. Did not ask for sick note or anything. They have no other income or housing costs they live at home bur not sure if they will actually receive any money. Hope this message makes sense

I'm afraid it could go either way and may depend on the Decision Maker who looks at the claim although the current situation may confuse things sufficiently that it is actually not a problem.
To receive UC as a student the claimant needs to have an award of DLA or PIP and (and this is the problem) have Limited Capability for Work. Some DMs apply this criteria at the start of the claim and refuse the claim because they do not have LCW when they make the claim, some will wait until the claimant has been assessed to see whether they do have LCW.
The following explains the issue in more detail

The most important action that they must take now is to ask to be assessed on their Journal, beyond that all they can do is wait and see what happens.

They need to score a minimum of 15 points against the UC Descriptors or meet one of the Exemption or Exceptional Circumstances Regulations, see our UC/ESA Claim guide.
