Should i write to decision maker? was created by traceytracey
Dear all,

I have just received my assessment report for PIP. The assessor has suggested High rate for both 12 points DL and 18 points moving around. However I have a couple of questions if you are able to answer?

(1) Does the decision maker usually agree with assessor?

The reason I am asking is, I have problems with my right wrist which is why they have awarded me points for cutting up food but they have only awarded me 2 points for cooking but I need help and assistance (for the same reason ) and feel this should be 4 points.
I am concerned about querying it as last time it went to MR and tribunal which I won. (the judge awarded me 4 points 1E.

(2) Am I able to write without it being a MR?

(3) There are a couple of minor discrepancies, should i mention them?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Hi TraceyTracey

1. The Decision Maker often follows the assessor but not always. They sometimes award less points and they sometimes award more.

2. You can write to the Decision Maker before the decision is made, but it's a very small window and you need to do it now.

3. Only mention discrepancies if you believe they are ones that would lead you to be awarded more points - otherwise it's generally not worth it.
