Hi, I just want to make you aware of something that happened yesterday. My DWP letter for my assessment appt said the assessors or HP's number would show as withheld on my phone. My appt was for between 3 to 4pm.

At 10.10am yesterday my mobile rang showing the number as 0800 023 2635. I am terrible in the morning due to depression and CFS and not knowing the number didn't answer. A little later I googled it and found it is a DWP number. I rang it and an automatic message said they'd tried to call and would contact me again if needed. I was now very worried and stressed as I never get calls from DWP and now had on my appt day. I was worried it was being cancelled. So, I then rang CHDA appointments number to see if they knew anything about it. The guy there was nice and said it was nothing to do with my appt but did try and ring DWP whilst I was on hold, but it just rang and rang he says. So I left it and waited to see if I would get called again.
At 2.45pm my mobile rang and again it was 0800 023 2635, so I answered it and it was the assessor or HP. So, I strongly suspect that she tried ringing me that morning, 5 hours before my appt time to try and do my assessment!! I am so relieved I didn't answer. I was too stressed about my appt and didn't think to ask her if she'd rang me that morning, but who else would it have been..

So please be aware of this, and that the number may come up as the DWP's and not a withheld number when the HP rings you.

I also have other things I want to say about my assessment but will post again about those soon. I couldn't get up til 3pm today as I was do stressed and exhausted by it. I feel like I've been hit by a bus and done 5 rounds with Mike Tyson today.

We have heard from other members that they have had a call in advance of the assessment to remind the claimant of the appointment.

OK, thank you Gordon, must admit I didn't think of that.
What of the phone number though, do you think this is something new or am I reading too much into it?

Some Assessment Provider offices are in DWP offices and they may share a telephone exchange it is also possible that some assessors are having to use DWP facilities because their own offices cannot support the call conferencing facilities that they need to offer.
