Hi my PIP End date is DEcember 21 but I know they usually review a year in advance of that date. Does anyone know if they are still reviewing a year in advance owing to Covid restrictions please.

Hi worrywart
Prior to the lockdown, the review time had been reduced down from 1 year to 6 months. Due to covid-19 I am not aware of any changes in the 6 months, but members may know better.

Worrywort, my award was due to end in July 2020 and I was sent the review form in January. I returned it before the middle of February, so pre covid , as Gary says the reviews seems to be sent out 6 months before. However I only had my (telephone) assessment at the end of July and have been told up to 12 weeks for a decision . Luckily my existing award was extended by DWP for 6 months, until January 2021. So they are in a little bit of a pickle at the moment with reviews and have lots of catching up to do. I would put it out of your mind for the moment!

Thank you Gary. I’ve had a motability car for 30 years but last year I nearly lost it owing to a review. 2 days before the hand back they accepted my reconsideration and I kept the car. It was so stressful and nearly tipped me over the edge. I don’t want to be in the same position next time so had thought of buying my current car which I can I’ll afford but at least I won’t be carless. My motability car is due to be changed in November this year , my award runs out Dec 21 but could be reviewed 6 months prior to that . As we all know, Just because my circumstances haven’t changed doesn’t mean the award will stay the same , it’s so difficult I know what to do. Maybe some other members have been in this predicament.
Change car and hope my award is unchanged
Buy car to avoid being car less If award is changed ( I would get a discount but It would still be a financial commitment I could live without)

Hi worrywart
Unfortunately it is something we cannot help you with, it seems to be the luck of the draw for those with no change in circumstances as to whether or not a renewal goes through without any stress, MR's or Appeals.
