My wife's Pip award runs out in April 2021 i was just wondering due to covid are there any updates on when she is likely to receive the renewal and are they having face to face assessments again. As you can imagine it causes a lot of anxiety.

Hi ejay1001
Prior to Covid-19 reviews were going out to claimants 6 months before the end of their claim, I would contact DWP Nov/Dec time to see what is happening.
As to your query on face to face assessments, at present I am not aware as to when face to face will re-start, I have not heard any different from members from this forum. When we hear any different, we will put in in our newsletter. If you have signed up for the newsletter you will hear when we have any news.

Hi, if the prospect of a F2F is aggravating your wife's mental state, I would suggest asking your GP for a letter to say so. A letter like this, which specified that either a F2F or phone assessment would cause her worse anxiety and requested specifically they do a paper based assessment instead, is I believe why our daughter got a rare paper based assessment. The key phrase to have the GP write in the letter is overwhelming psychological distress, they actually use the abbreviation OPD in the assessor's report.
At £42 in our case I think the letter unbelievably good value.
Best wishes, Denby
