SDP and migration from ESA to UC was created by Ellis Walker
So as I understand it, if you're on ESA but get the Severe Disability Premium, a change in circumstances will not trigger a switch to Universal Credit.
Although I am entitled to the Severe Disability Premium, I do not get it because I live with family still. I may be moving out at the end of the year though and was wondering, would the change in circumstances mean that I got switched over from ESA to UC? The moment I move into my own place I will be eligible for the SDP but the moment I move in it'll also be a change in circumstances and I won't have been receiving it already. I'm a little unsure as to what the rules would be here...

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I need to correct you, if you live with family then you are not entitled to the SD Premium.
I assume that you have an award of PIP Daily Living or DLA MRC or HRC (there are others).
If you move out then you can either claim UC and the Housing Element or you can ask for the SD Premium to be added to your ESA and when it is, claim Housing Benefit. You will have to cover the rent of your new property until you can make the HB claim.
You will need to make a Decision this year as the restriction on claimants with the Premium is currently due to end at the end of January next year.
