Hi

Just wondering if there is an option for claiming UC purely for NI Contributions purposes. So no payment, no conditionality to look for work, no signing on. Thought this was possible for JSA if someone not entitled to benefit payment not sure about UC. Also seems to suggest when you get UC you get class 3 only. JSA is class 1 and 3. Now I understand class 1 is what entitles you to JSA for example. Not that you can get JSA these days for most people. So if on UC you only get class 3 does this have implications for entitlements?

Just looking further down the line if ESA review doesn’t work out.

Thanks.

No, as far as I am aware there is no such thing as a "Credits Only" Universal Credit claim.

Class 3 Credits count towards a full State Pension but cannot be used to make a claim for a Contribution Based benefits such as New Style ESA.
