Hello everyone, Thanks for all the great work on here, we would be lost without you.Wanted you to know that we do appreciate you enormously. I need your expert advice please. I received the dreaded brown envelope this morning advising me that my award has been extended until January 2022. Our mobility car is due for renewal this October, I am 66. As the award has been extended for over a year can I use this letter to change the car or does it have to be an actual award letter or can I use the letter I received this morning? I had hoped that as I will be 67 when my previous award was due in April 2021 that I would be subject to the 10 year light touch award but I am really mixed up now. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Lizzie
As far as I am aware the only criteria that Motability has are that the award has at least a year to run, so your new award letter should be sufficient for you to take out a new lease, just be aware that the DWP appears to be extending all awards that expire in the next nine months or so but they may assess you earlier than this.
