Pip renewal was created by janinne
I had my pip telephone renewal and am worried about a question I was asked. She asked me if a normal person can walk 200m in 5 mins how long would it take me. I told her I can’t walk that far (on my form I put can walk no more than 50m) and on last claim I scored 8 points. But she said If I had to and again I said I can’t she said I need a answer of you and again I said I can’t so she said I just need you to give me a time even if you have to stop so I said 1 minute but I couldn’t walk that far anyway. So now I’m worried sick as am thinking I will loose points. Any advice please ty

It's a shame you did not stick to your guns about not answering but I think that your answer is actually so absurd that it ought not to do any damage providing those assessing you see it for what it is.
So, if you look at what was asked and in particular the example give, that a normal person would take 5 minutes to walk 200m, you have said that you could do this distance in 1 minute, five times faster than the normal person, so you would need to be trotting or more likely running to be able to do this, not what the test is about.

I asked my daughter as she was with me when the phone conversation took place and she said she asked me how long before I rest walking the 200m and I said 1 min. But I can’t walk that far anyway. Can I get a look at the report before my decision is made or will I have to Waite then appeal if it goes against me?

Hi Janine
You can ring and ask for a copy of the report 48 hours after an assessment has taken place - but be warned some are taking a bit longer to be uploaded to the system. It should be sent out to you within 5- 10 days. When you receive the report - if you have issues with it - you can write to the decision-maker - challenging the report. Some people have had success with this and others haven't. It's not always possible to get your views back to the decision-maker before they make their decision and sometimes what a claimant says has no influence on the final decision anyway.
