I am on IR ESA Support group too, and just claimed UC to help with rent. There were some initial issues but within a week they understood I already on ESA support group, don't need fit note, or any interview, except re ID. Got my payment date too. I got letter stating my ESA will be deducted from UC amount, so just staying on same benefit for now.
