PIP Telephone Assessment was created by maryo
Dear all,

Please can you help?

I received a letter to arrange a telephone assessment for PIP and the doctor has written a letter requesting a paper-based review stating "Overwhelming Psychological Distress' as a consequence of a telephone assessment.

1.Who do I send this to, the DWP or the people that wrote for a telephone assessment?

2.How do I do this, by email, registered post or telephone, what is acceptable?

3.The letter includes some of my ill health and disabilities but not all.
Should this just include the ones that directly impact upon my ability to conduct a telephone assessment?
Is it even necessary to include any ill health or disabilities or is just citing 'Overwhelming Psychological Distress" sufficient?

4.Is it usual to conduct a telephone assessment without a claim form?

I have been in and out of hospital with ill health and it is becoming increasingly difficult and challenging to cope with this process, particularly at this time. Any advice would be greatly received and appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

1. You need to send it to the Assessment Provider but copy in the DWP.

2. If you can send by email to the AP then do so, you will need to send it by post to the DWP.

3. Your "letter" is trying to do two things if possible; certainly, you need to show that you are not able to participate in a telephone assessment and secondly if you can, provide any additional information that is needed for the AP to do a Paper Based Review.

OPD appears to be a key phrase for both assessors and the DWP but I would not rely on it on its own if you can provide additional information.

4. There is no legal requirement for a review form to be issued but any adverse Decision made without one would certainly be open to challenge.

Dear Gordon,

Thank you for your reply,.
May I clarify the following points please?

3.The supporting letter does include some ill health and disabilities, however it does not include all of my ill health and disabilities.

Would this be detrimental if not all included at this stage when requesting a paper based review?

4.Regarding the claim form-
I received a letter instructing me to not do anything during the lockdown period but to wait to hear from them.

Is it possible a new form has gone astray in the post,or should I be requesting one now?
Or is it advisable to await the outcome of the PBR first?

Thank-you in advance

3. I don't think the letter will be detrimental if it does not include all of your issues but it obviously won't help in those areas, only you decide how much of an issue this might be.

4. It's more likely that the DWP have forgotten to send one out when they restarted the assessment process, there's nothing stopping you providing the information now, it does not have to be on a form but I would stick to the same format, there's a section in our PIP Claim guide that covers the AR1 Review form that I assume you would have been sent.

Thank-you for those helpful points Gordon,

No it is not an AR1 Review form it is a PIP 1003 form I think.
It is very long ,possibly 40 pages and very detailed.

Forgive me but I am confused, in a previous post you asked about being assessed without a form and now you are saying that you have a PIP2.
