Young Person Transition from DLA to PIP was created by ravenmiss
After battling on/off for over 13 months with my own PIP claim and having a distressing time at a phone tribunal that didn't go as I'd hoped, I ha a different experience being an appointee for my son!
A couple of months ago we got a heads up that as he'd turned 16 this year he'd have to apply for PIP or his DLA would end (he got an award about 9 years ago for HRC and LRM up to age 16).
He wanted me to handle it for him so we filled in the form, sent it off a couple of weeks back with some old but relevant medical evidence.
I got a phone call today from a nurse regarding his claim. This is the first I've heard back about the form. She said that she thought it cruel, unfair and necessary to put my son through a phone assessment and just wanted to clear a few things up. She asked some basic questions about home and what kind of college he went to. She seemed to be extremely knowledgable about his condition and said the forum covered pretty much everything she needed to know. This all took just under 10 minutes!
She said she'd finish up the report, send it off to the DWP and we'll get an award notice in 6-8 weeks. As much as I am SO pleased he won't be put through it, I was really surprised!
I'll be ringing for a copy of the report at the end of the week as I think it takes 2 days to be put on the system? I'm curious what she's put!!
I'll update this as it goes on as I feel diaries (no matter how they turn out) can be so so helpful to others

Hi Wockie
Some reports seem to be taking longer at the moment, but keep ringing back if it's not there the first time.
Glad he didn't have to endure an assessment.

Thanks BIS, will do. I'm glad too because, in all honesty, I doubt he would have understood much of what was being asked of him.
Sorry for all the typos in my post, I was super tired when I wrote it!

Forgot to ring last week for the report so just held on for 40mins now to be told they haven't made a decision. I explained I knew that but I wanted a copy of the HP Assessment Report and was told it can't be sent out but she would add a note that I want it and they'll send it out with the result letter...
She then rushed me off the line. I am terrible on the phone, I just froze and said ok and she hung up.

Hi Wockie
This seems to be happening to a lot of people - so don't worry that you froze. Some people are getting their reports and some are not. I think they are trying to cut down on people having them before the decision to save time or to bring them in line with ESA where you can't get the report before the decision. You can try again or just wait.

I did wonder as I'd read others having bother with it. If they don't want to do it then they should just say so to save us wasting our time. I'll just wait on it and hope it shows up with the decision letter
