LCWRA and PIP moving around overlap? was created by Rebecca
Hi there
I know I am over simplifying this because nothing with PIP or UC is ever straight forward, but would I be right in thinking that if I have scored 8 points on the moving around section of PIP (I received standard rate for being able to walk 20m but not 50m) then I have passed the descriptor that says cannot walk more than 50m in the UC50 assessment? I have just downloaded the UC50 guide to do the form.
Thank you for your help in advance.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I'm afraid not.
ESA is not a walking test, it is a Mobility test! In addition to your walking, it considers your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or even to own one for it to be considered. SO even if you can show your walking is restricted unless you can also show that you cannot self-propel the wheelchair you will still not score points.

Thanks Gordon, I thought it was too simple to be true! Can I use my pip report or award summary as evidence or will they already have that? I've got a lot of evidence printed off already but I thought the fact is already been dwp 'assessed' might help. Thank you.

I would supply the information, the Decision Maker is not required to look at your PIP award when they consider your ESA award.

Thank you. I will include it. I personally feel my OT report is enough to push me over the threshold in evidence in one document but I'll throw the kitchen sink at it so to speak! Thanks again for your wonderful advice as always.
