evidence for PIP - communicating and reading

Does anyone have any advice on where I could go to get assistance with proving Q9 Communicating and Q10 Reading of the PIP questionnaire, on mental health grounds?

I am currently not under an NHS mental health team.

I have tried to describe my difficulties in that section but I don't have any specific proof/evidence other than brief comments my psychiatrist made in the past about me having problems with concentration and memory.

I have discussed this problem with my GP, who advised it is probably down to my social anxiety and not leaving the house. She also said I would probably pass a memory test, which is the only thing she could suggest at this point. My dad recently undertook the same test and passed, even though he may have early-onset dementia. So, I don't think this memory test is adequate in any way.

I know that my mind is nowhere near functioning how it used to and I’m worried because of how bad it is. My difficulties with concentration and memory, affect my ability to communicate and read, whether written or spoken. I don't how where or how to get support for that or how to document it.

Thank you in advance.

I think you will struggle to get any evidence if your GP is not willing to pursue the matter further at this time, any referrals to a hospital have to come through your GP unless you go privately.

Is it worth your speaking to your GP again?

Relatives and friends can make statements about your problems but these will carry less weight than medical reports.

Replied by Ellecole on topic evidence for PIP - communicating and reading
I rang the medical secretary at the GP surgery and explained the situation with needing evidence. I was told to drop them an email explaining everything and they'll see what they can do. It might be something I will have pay for but I really don't mind.

Thank you for the assist.
