PIP waiting times was created by Michelle
Hi All,

Can anyone give me an indication of how long it is currently taking for new claims to receive an appointment for a telephone assessment? It’s exactly 8 weeks today since the DWP received my application paperwork. I’ve called several times to add additional information and each time they have said that it is with an assessor and I should be contacted soon for a telephone interview. I understand that people have waited a hideous amount of time for things to progress once handing in the paperwork and there is no guarantee of timescales but it’s having a negative impact on my anxiety and depression waiting, is there anything I can do at this stage to move things along. I hate the feeling of being out of control and not being able to do anything.

Hope you are all well and staying safe. Thank you in advance for any advice and information you can give.

Kindest regards
Michelle

Hi Michelle,

I know waiting is awful and is having a detrimental effect on your health, just as it is with others - but there is no timeframe because the waiting time varies. I would expect it to be in the next couple of weeks, but we have no inside knowledge of the current status of claims within the DWP especially with everything going on. There is nothing you can do to hurry along the process. As hard as it is, try not to think about it. I know that it is easier said than done, but you have no control over this. You can only try and ease your anxiety a tiny bit.
