Planning and following journeys and anxiety - PIP was created by WeeL
I'm my daughters appointee and spoke on her behalf for her PIP review telephone assessment. She always has someone with her when she is out due to anxiety and autism and relies on me to drive her to college and anywhere else she needs to go and pick her up. On occasion (maybe once or twice a month) she manages to go to our local shop about 100 yards from home at night when it's very quiet and only when her uncle is working there. Other than that she is never outside alone; she gets overwhelmed on public transport even though someone is with her and basically if I didn't drive her to college/appointments etc she wouldn't be able to get there by herself.
Her award has remained the same as before, enhanced care only but I think she should be entitled to the mobility component. The report shows that she can plan and follow a journey unaided but this isn't accurate at all. The justification for this is below.
Difficulties with planning the route of a journey are inconsistent with assessment today.
MSE (I'm not familiar with this acronym) showed: Was orientated in place and time. General memory and concentration was adequate (my daughter only spoke to give permission for me to speak on her behalf).
Has no diagnosed cognitive impairment.
SOH: (don't know what this acronym is either) attended mainstream school and mainstream college with no 1:1 support.
No reported signs of overwhelming psychological distress in FH (another acronym I don't know).
FH reports she goes to shop alone.
Therefore it is reasonable to suggest she is able to plan and follow the route of a journey unaided.
The decision maker has therefore decided she does not qualify for the mobility component. Ive just joined and will have a read about the site over the weekend before I ask for a mandatory reconsideration. Can anyone help with the acronyms or have any pearls of wisdom? We had to go to tribunal for DLA then switched to PIP and I'm really considering just accepting the outcome to save myself the stress!

I'm sorry this has happened. Clearly, you had an assessor who has no or very little understanding of someone with autism. The decision-maker is not medically trained.
Let's deal with the anagrams first
MSE = Mental State Exam
SOH - Social and Occupational History
FH = Functional History
It is horribly stressful and only you have the knowledge of your daughter's difficulties. From what you have said it does seem a strange decision to not award her anything for mobility (but I am not an assessor)
One of our member's Becca who has an adult son with autism had to go as far as an appeal to gain the mobility component. She quoted from paragraphs 62, 63, 66, 73, and 74 from, and attached the full judgement of, RS v Sec of State for Work and Pensions [2016] UKUT 0085 (AAC). Now, this was an appeal submission but you might find it useful to make your arguments for a mandatory reconsideration. You should be able to google the judgement.
When writing your MR don't assume that the person knows anything about autism.
Look at the Guide to PIP and Reviews - which has advice on submitting your MR. Come back if you have further questions.
