PIP application - name spelling differences was created by bobin
I have submitted the PIP form for my child which has severe learning disabilities, to replace the DLA that was receiving, as now it is 16 yo.
My child was born in the UK but is an EU citizen and only has passport from the EU country I am from.
My question is this:
The name on the passport has slightly different spelling from the birth certificate / National Insurance / DLA / PIP form submitted. Specifically:
- in the first name, the letter 'c' on birth certificate/PIP, is with 'k' in the passport
- the last name has 's' in the end in the birth certificate/PIP but not in passport.
The child has Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK (settled status) which matches the spelling in the passport
Should I inform the DWP on this while they are assessing the application?
Thanks in advance

Hi Bob
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I would definitely inform them, so there are no issues at a later date. Make sure that if you phone them, you follow up with a letter in writing.

Thank you for your response. Would you expect that I may be penalised for not telling them earlier. Unfortunately I realised after I had submitted.

Hi bobin
I don't see why they should penalise you. You can easily prove there's no intent to deceive if anyone raises it, but you certainly won't be the first person with documents with different spellings.
