PIP review form: 2 questions please

Hello,

I needed fo ask for some help please.

When we fill in the PIP Form PIP.1043,
—-Is it ok to refer to a copy of the Assessment Provider from a few years back?
and say if applicable that for a certain activity ie Dressing and undressing the previous descriptor given a few years back was b. Needs to use an aid or appliance to be able to dress or undress but is not applicable anymore, because since then the osteoarthritis in my lower body has worsened and the hip which needs a hip replacement is worse because I cannot lift my leg up, it is straight all the time, I cannot use an aid to put my shoes on, nor lace them up. I do not know of any if they exist.

Also I have noticed that on the existing Pip review form no leaflet came and no advice that when we fill in the form we should take into account if we could do the activity safely, to an acceptable standard, repeatedly and in a reasonable time period, Yet if my memory does not fail me at the end of 2017 the leaflet that came with the form, came with guidance as regards ro safely...in a reasonable time period. I am glad BandW tells us about doing the activity safely...

I assume also I have to fill in the form again from scratch as if if applying for PIP for the first time.
——- Will I be penalised if I use pages I had printed out late 2017 ie page with all the health/diseases I suffer from, or for instance page about how my health and disability affects me preparing food and cooking
but I amend the pages by adding more health conditions I have developed, and how in my case worse it is to prepare and cook food because...
I am a bit worried that whoever looks at my case will realize looking at my file that I am re-using previous information I sent them and penalize for it.

Thank you so much for any help given.
Best wishes

Hi Olympia

I would advise you read the latest guide which tells you how to fill out the PIP review form - (starting at page 101). You don't want to start from scratch at all, but you do need to talk about where you currently are in a few sentences.

I would not try and say in your review what an assessment provider previously gave you for any points. They want to know your current condition is and the impact on the specific PIP criteria. From what you say - your condition has worsened and therefore you explain how and why. Keep it as clear as possible.

Yes you can continue to say about the safety and reliability of any tasks you undertake.

Hello BIS,

I am grateful for your help.

Despite knowing I was worse I never notified them in case I took the risk they stopped my pip.

Do you happen to know if the assessors penalize people in my situation who did not notify them they got worse?
Maybe the assessor will think if you are worse you should have notified us before we contact you by sending you the review form.

Thank you ever so much.
Best wishes

Hi Olympia

DWP would not penalise you for not notifying them if your condition got worse as the only person it impacts on is you.

If your condition improved and you failed to notify them then you would be penalised with an overpayment you may also be done for benefit fraud in extreme cases.
