Hi there I wonder if anyone can help. My daughter is on contribution based ESA and the 12 months is due to run out in January, she never had an assessment and missed some telephone ones due to being nervous talking over the phone.. She has no other income, I have recently been made her appointee as she finds it difficult to manage her own affairs . She is around 30 weeks pregnant and is hoping to move in with her boyfriend soon who is working full time. If she produces her MATB1 will her contribution ESA be extended up until the birth of the baby?
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated, I am worried about her being with no money when this runs out in the first week of January. Thank you.

The rules changes a number of years ago in regards to CB ESA. Your daughters CB ESA will end after 365 days unless they are in the Support Group at that time in which case it will carry on until reassessed.
The answer to your question is no, your daughters CB ESA will not be extended unless she has been placed in the Support Group.
The information in your post has rung a number of alarm bells depending on what has happened to your daughters claim as usually you are only in the assessment phase for 13 weeks, although I have know people to be in it for 26 weeks.
I am not sure from your post if your daughter had an assessment or whether DWP did a paper assessment, she may have been placed in the Work Group. I would doubt that your daughter was still in the assessment phase but stranger things have happened.
Your daughter needs to contact the DWP to find out what is happening with her claim, if she has had an assessment then she will need to ask what group has she been placed in and ask for a copy of the assessors report before taking the next step.

She says she filled in a form and had a job centre appointment but doesnt remember anything more specific than that. I am her appointee now so will phone and ask for a copy of the assessment.
If she sends in her MATB1 (her baby is due in February) would they then place her in the support group or is it not as easy as that?

In order to qualify for the Support Group you need to;
* meet one or more of the relevant descriptors, or
* meet one of the associated Exceptional Circumstances rules.
The Support Group descriptors and the Exceptional Circumstances are listed in the Claiming ESA guides in the members area.
