JSA guide? was created by Ru9@858!vgV5N93L
Hello.

This website has provided extremely invaluable advice in the past for my family when navigating through the horrendous ESA and PIP process.

I came here tonight looking to subscribe to read the site's JSA guide before I apply for JSA for the first time. I hate the thought of applying blind without the totally impartial advice this site provides, but unfortunately I can't seem to find a JSA guide so far.

Is there a guide for JSA on the site?

Hi Ru9@858!vgV5N93L

I have not seen any guides on this forum in regards to claiming JSA, JSA is what is now called a legacy benefit which has been superceeded by UC, although some claimants can apply for 'New Style JSA'.

There are 3 different types of Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA):

1 - ‘new style’ JSA
2 - contribution-based JSA
3 - income-based JSA

Which types you can get depends on your circumstances.

You can only apply for contribution-based and income-based JSA if you either:

* get the severe disability premium, or are entitled to it
* got or were entitled to the severe disability premium within the last month and are still eligible for it

see: www.gov.uk/jobseekers-allowance for further details.
