PIP Renewal was created by Tinker765
Hello,

I sent my review form for pip back last Feb, due to covid my pip which was due to end in June was extended to Jan 14th 2021.

I still have not had an assessment, I phoned DWP today took 50 minutes to get through to be told there was nothing they could do and they was not allowed to extend my claim. He told me to ring IS to try hurry them up. So I called IS and they said the earliest appointment i had was the 11th Jan.

So basically i am going to lose 50% of my income in a matter of weeks for no fault of my own. Was wondering if anyone had any advice about this situation?

Many thanks

Hi Tinker765

I'm sorry that you have found yourself in this situation. I think you should phone the DWP again and ask for a call back from a manager. You want an explanation of why you can't be given a second extension. There are plenty of members on here who have been given two extensions and at least one person has an extension into 2022. It is also not your job to arrange your own appointment - that is ridiculous. I would also contact your MP as soon as possible and get them involved. As you have rightly pointed out - this is nothing to do with you. Emphasise to your MP your money that is likely to be cut and the huge amount of stress this is causing on top of your medical conditions.

Thank you for your reply, the person i spoke to was the case manager, he explained that he is not allowed to extend my extension incase i lose pip when i have my assessment. Which did not make sense as i said well if i failed my assessment then surely the money would stop there and then anyway?

I did feel like he was making excuses he was really friendly. Yeah i thought it was not my responsibility, IS said to me it is because i requested for it to be recorded as they don't have many staff with this equipment.

Ok i will email my MP, Thank you very much for your great reply much appreciated.
