extension for pip form to be back was created by libran1962
hi
i had my pip review form to be returned by 23/12
iv so much going on and havnt felt well enough to attempt it plus my husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer last year but hes back in hospital system after becoming unwell again
iv heard that you are allowed a 14 day extension.please may i ask do they always allow this,what reasons would be acceptable and also is the 14 days from when it was due in or from when you phone? im not sure when to ask them too?
any advice much appreciated

I have never been turned down for one yet and I have been doing them for many years.
Give the DWP a ring now : 0800 121 4433 and explain to the person you speak to your predicament, they usually give an additional 2 weeks to your due date which I work out to be 6th Jan 2021, although at this time of year I have known them to give 4 weeks but usually it is 2 weeks. If you cannot complete it by then contact them again, and ask for another extension. Cannot guarantee a second time but it does happen, especially if some event has had an impact on you in completing the form, such as going into hospital.
Each time you phone DWP make sure you note down the name of the person you speak to and the date and time of your call. The first thing I always ask the caller is their name, if you cannot spell it ask them how they spell their name, I usually say 'that's an unusual name, how do you spell it' it also breaks the ice when talking to a stranger. Do not be afraid to ask

thank you so much for your reassuring reply.
about 5 yrs ago i asked for an extension for ESA form as i couldnt get help from the M.E society to help fill it in but they said no.The charity advocate from M.E was so cross that she phoned them whilst i was with her and they said yes.i guess i just have bad memories from that.
i will be brave and do as you say

Normally with ESA they will not give you an extension, so you were quite lucky the advocate was able to get one.
Let us know how you get on requesting your PIP extension.
