Happy New Year Everyone

I have been in the ESA support group for many years under section 35 i think, paper based assessment October 2019 recommendation review in 18 months, (due April 2021) previously had been awarded for 3 years, I know with the pandemic no F2F are taking place but wonder do you have any idea if i will be sent a new form for completion or are the DWP looking at cases and making a decision to extend award where they think appropriate without contacting the claimant.

Also PIP was awarded for 4 years due July 2022 and i am sure i saw on the forum people were receiving a letter extending terms due to the pandemic? any further info.

I really don't feel i can call DWP to ask due to anxiety so any help would be appreciated although i know you don't have a crystal ball.

Stay safe and thank you.

Best Wishes

Hi Sweetheart

Happy New Year to you.

Your ESA will stay in place until you have been reassessed. Most reassessments are done over the phone after you have returned your form, but some claimants get a paper based assessment depending on the information DWP have.

In regards to your PIP claim, we are hearing on the forum that claimants are hearing from the DWP about 6 months before the end of their claim with a review form.

For claimants who have won their Tribunal claim it is advisable to contact DWP 6 months before the end of their claim and ask for a review form, but they may be told that they have to make a new claim.

Some forum members have received a letter from the DWP extending their PIP award only to receive a review form a few weeks later informing them that they have to return the form within 4 weeks.

So it varies, what I would say in regards to PIP, if you have not had any contact from the DWP, 6 months before the end of your PIP claim, to contact them.
