Good afternoon, just a quick question, I have helped my daughter fill in her form to claim PIP. She is already claiming Universal Credits, if she is awarded PIP will she get any extra money from UC? Thank you Buster

Hi buster

Quick answer to your question is .... no ;)

Long answer: For your daughter to get any extra money from UC she will need to apply for LCWRA, this is the same as the support component if she was claiming ESA. To apply for LCWRA she would have to send in a 'Fit note' from her GP, she would then be sent a form to complete called a UC 50 form, if she got 15 points or more she would pass the first stage but then she has to pass the second stage to be awarded LCWRA

In order to qualify for the LCWRA/Support Group you need to;

* meet one or more of the relevant descriptors, or
* meet one of the associated Exceptional Circumstances rules.

The LCWRA/Support Group descriptors and the Exceptional Circumstances are listed in the Claiming ESA guides in the members area.
