PIP not extended for award not made by tribunal was created by Joe Caff
Hi.
My PIP got stopped in December and when I queried what about the covid extension I was told because my award was made by a tribunal it does not come into the extension period as those that get an end date from DWP does.
My end date was December they sent me the pip form to send back to them in August which I did at the beginning of September and told 11 weeks to either get an assessment or they will give me an award.
I phoned in January when I noticed that I never received a payment and that is when I was told that I am not entitled to an extension and my pip claim has now ended and I must wait for an assessment from ATOS or whatever they call themselves now.
Today I got my assessment for 25th January after many calls and an official complaint as to why I have to wait for so long.
I have no official letter telling me my claim has ended only the letter in august saying it will soon end.
So I am stuck in limbo, this government press release saying all disability benefits will be extended does not cover awards given to anybody by a tribunal yet DWP could not show me any memos or press release that excludes awards won by tribunal.
Any help with them stopping my DWP even in the middle of waiting for renewal or assessment or this award won by tribunal excuse they are quoting me but cannot provide me with anything written down just "they have been told" to say this to tribunal award winners. At my wts end here.

Hi JC
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
The information you have been told is not true as I personally know someone who won their PIP at a Tribunal and their claim as been extended due to Covid-19 to August 2021
I would involve your MP to help get an extension, we have heard from both sides on the forum, some Tribunal claimants have received an extension, others have not and only found out when their benefits stopped.

Hi Gary thanx for quick reply.
It's my forum name not my real name.
I tried contacting MP but he said he'll pass it on to my local benefits help centre (still waiting)
Well DWP told me they're not extending it because of that reason I won an appeal, but couldn't show me any memo or press release that states awards won by tribunal with an end date is any different to others that are getting extended.
Like I said stuck in Limbo.
I even called CAB and had them head scratching thier heads for a few hours before they got back to me and said it's because I had a an end date it won't be extended.
What is more troubling to me is they have had my claim form since beginning of September and let my claim run out it's not as if I haven't followed their rules or anything.

Hi Joe Caff
Thanks for coming back and letting us know your current situation.
I could understand it if they treated all Tribunal winners the same but I personally know of Tribunal winners who have had their claim extended.
I think this is an issue MP's need to take up as it is causing severe hardship and we are coming across it more and more on the forum, I have seen 3 posts today on the matter.

Thanx Gary.
Today I got a reply from a complaint I made about them letting my piprun out and not extending it.
I know they are lying as I will tell at the end but this is their reply.
I have established that your previous claim was awarded by a tribunal (dates ) The tribunal awarded you a fixed term award of the enhanced rate of both daily and mobiity componenet of pip, (more dates) You have asked why this award was not extended, as you thought it would be, from the information you had seen on our website.
Our Guidlines confirmed that only those with a fixed term awards, ending between 24 March 2020 and 2 October 2020 would have their pip awards extended by 6 months. This was regardless of whether the decision to award benefit was made at appeal or by us. Unfortunately, you were outside that date range and we were not abale to consider extending your previous award.
So how do I know they are lying? well my son is autistic and receives pip and his end date was outside those dates yet he got his etended and was not awarded by an appeal.
I phoned them this morning as soon as I got this letter asked to be put through to a higher rank preferably the person who sent this letter and I was put through to the letter sender (complaints resolusion manager)
When I told her she was either wrong about the dates or is lying to me because of my sons extension, the phone went quiet, I asked her for the memo, press release or guidline number which must be available to read she again went quiet and said its an inter departmenral guidline, I still said I need to read it and she humg up on me.
now what can I do about this as obviously something is wron inside the DWP as w eall know? So still stuck in Limbo.
On another note I had my phone assessment and I can confirm there was a dog barking and kids running around doors banging etc as the assessment was going on, she had a worse cough than I did!!!

Hi Joe
What a time you have had. If you feel up to, I would put in another complaint about the particular manager. I don't think it's acceptable to put the phone down just because she was caught out. She should have at least said "I'll ring you back."
I would also as Gary suggested in a previous post get onto your MP. As you are able to show clearly the different way claimants are being treated, this is something they should be showing an interest in.
Sorry, can't offer any better suggestions.
