PIP review due this year was created by davidelsam
Hi Folks
First post on the forum for me. It looks like an excellent resource, and well done to those who provide the advice and info.
My wife claimed the old invalidity benefit from the early 1980s, then moved to incapacity benefit and finally ESA, which ended when her contribution based award lapsed in 2013. She had a face to face PIP assessment in 2014 which resulted in an award of enhanced daily living and standard mobility, then another F2F in 2015 and a paper review in 2018. Her current award runs till next year, so she'll have another review this year, probably in March.
At the time of the last review in 2018 we completed an AR1, and she had a short phone call from a decision maker who asked some questions about her shoulder mobility. What's the current situation regarding reviews? Will she again be asked to complete a review form, and is that likely to be followed by a short "clarification" phone call or a full telephone assessment? I know these things tend to be as long as a piece of string, but we'd like to be as well prepared as possible. .She qualifies for her State Pension in January 2023 at age 66.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Davidelsam
I would expect your wife to receive a review form at some point, but whether they will do a paper-based assessment,, a paper-based assessment with a clarification call or a full telephone assessment, I can't tell you. These decisions are made on a case by case basis and because a person has had a paper-based assessment in the past it does not guarantee a paper-based one necessarily the next time. That's the best I can say.
I would wait to see what happens. There are 12 pages in the latest PIP guide on telephone assessments if you later find you need that information. - starting on page 80.

Much obliged for the reply, BIS.
I'll have a look at the topic of telephone assessments in the PIP guide as you suggest.

Hi davidelsam
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work .
Just to add what BIS has stated below, if you have not heard anything from the DWP within 6 months of the date of your wife's claim when it ends then contact the DWP to see when they will be sending out a review form.
