Waiting months for a pip assessment was created by Valerie
Hello there. I have been a member of this site for approx 9 months but not posted until now, and I am in need of some advise please.
I have been receiving the standard rate for care for the last 3yrs due to having a number of health issues. I have been a nurse for 42yrs so you can probably guess one of my problems is spinal stenosis. I also have copd, fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis and anxiety and depression.
I am now unable to work as my health has deteriorated in the last year and I get uc.
Sorry to waffle on but I applied for a change of circumstances review on 23rd September last year. Apparently my completed form has been with the hcp since 27th October but I have heard nothing at all about a telephone assessment. Every time I call I am fobbed off and told that they have a backlog. Can you please give me some advice as to how I can go further with this, or if I need to wait and be patient. Thank you..

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Valerie
I know you have waited since last September for a change of circumstances decision, but members of Benefits & Work often find quite a long wait for a decision so it doesn't surprise me. The positive thing is that you know there is no problem with your records - they are working on it. If you are eventually awarded an increase, it should be backdated to the date you informed them of the change.
In the meantime, there is little that you can do except ring every few weeks to make sure that they are still working on it. It's frustrating, but you just have to be patient.
