PIP Appeal advice was created by Mathew
Hi my Brother has asked me to help him appeal his mandatory reconsideration for PIP, just need a little bit of advice on how much detail to include within the SSCS1, we wrote a very detailed mandatory reconsideration and I was wondering if we could use the same information for the reason for the appeal, just slightly re-written. I would also like to include a written submission and statements from myself and my wife about how his disability affects him at what point do you send these.

Hi Matthew

Make sure that you've read the Guide to PIP Appeals www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

How much detail do you need to put? Impossible to answer. I think you have to put as much as you consider clear to get your point across. For some that might be quite a small amount for others, it's a lot. Yes, you could use the information you used in the MR - but remember you lost (which most people do) but look it again and think whether there is anything missing.

You absolutely should include the write submissions from yourself and your wife. I would send them in at the same time as the form, but you don't have to. Information can be submitted up to two weeks before an appeal, but as the time for appeals is varying considerably, I would not leave it too long if you don't send it with SSCS1
