Hi, can you help, I am being reassessed for pip at the moment, I am on esa with the support element , my husband works but is being made redundant in April. We both get a small pension but its not enough to live on. Can you tell me if he goes for jobseekers will they stop my esa or take into consideration our pensions. Any information regarding this would be appreciated. Thank you and look forward to hearing from you.
From your post I do not have enough relevant information, I assume that you are in receipt of IR ESA. When you say you both get a small pension, I take it that it is either a private or personal pension and not state pension.
Your husband may be eligible to claim NS JSA depending on his NI contributions but this is only payable for 6 months. Your pensions would have been taken into consideration when you claimed IR ESA. If you are in receipt of IR ESA, this is a means tested benefit and all house hold income is taken into account apart from PIP.
There are lots of unknowns from your post, I would advise you to seek help from a local welfare rights organisation who can take all your circumstances into consideration. You can check by putting your information into one of the online benefit calculators.
